About Our School
Arch Street School was built in 1959 and it is set in a quiet location in Alta Vista. The school is surrounded by a large playground that is well-used by our students during the day and by the community after hours. We are lucky to be situated right next door to the Canterbury Community Centre and the Brian Kilrea Arena. Our students are fortunate to be able to use the pool and the skating rink as an extension of the Physical Education Program.
Arch Street School is one block away from Canterbury High School, the high school of the performing arts. We have been invited to attend many performances and some very talented high school students come to our school to tell stories, and to perform plays and musical concerts.
Arch Street PS is a school rich in multicultural heritage. Some of our students live within walking distance of the school, many others are bused from the Heatherington Area, which is about 3 kilometers away. Our school works closely with Heatherington Community Centre and Better Beginnings to ensure a successful future for our children.
