Leadership Recognition

“Leadership in the OCDSB is the demonstration of personal initiative to achieve a positive outcome.”

Students

Arch Street P.S. students are caring and involved citizens of the world. They are active initiators and supporters of various causes. They regularly contribute to Toonie Tuesday as well as participating in the Kiwanis Read-A-Thon. Every fall they participate in the Terry Fox Run held at Arch Street P.S. and organize their own Remembrance Day Ceremony. Our Reading Buddies are role models for our younger students. Over the last few years, our Grade 6 leadership group organized a variety of fundraising activities to support children in other countries. Our students are active environmental stewards.

Staff

Arch Street P.S. staff; including teachers, educational assistants, early childhood educators, office staff, custodians and professional support staff are all highly qualified and dedicated professionals. They are continually pursuing professional development opportunities to improve their area of practice. Dedicated and caring, they work collaboratively to support our students and each other. Providing well rounded programs is an important ideal to the staff of Arch Street and they are always willing to use their lunchtimes and time before and after school to run clubs, coach teams, meet with parents and plan activities in order to provide for students. School staff serve as positive role models for sportsmanship, dedication and compassion.

Parents/Guardians/Volunteers

The Arch Street P.S. parent community is a rich cultural blend that celebrates throughout the year. The School Council is a group, comprised of parents, staff and a community business member, who warmly welcome all new families to the Council. Over the last few years the Council has provided monetary support for our new play structure project.

Community

Community volunteers provide support in classrooms and for special events. The Canterbury Community Centre Association also uses the facilities at Arch Street P.S. and supports us as a member of the community, providing free access for skating for the students. Big Brothers and Big Sisters provide the Meet You In School Mentoring Program for students and we are fortunate to participate in the Knights of Columbus poster contest and sports challenges.
