Message from the Principal - May 22, 2020

Dear parents and guardians,

We hope you are all doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather. Where possible, it's important to have the children spend some time outside enjoying some fresh air and exercise.

This week, the provincial government announced that all schools will remain closed for the remainder of the year. The current plan is to re-open schools in September 2020.

With this announcement, we understand that students and parents will want to pick up personal items from the school. The school board, in consultation with Ottawa Public Health, is working on plans that will allow safe access. We will let you all know when plans are finalized. Stay tuned!

There will be some summer learning available for students in grades 1 - 6.  Information will be provided in the next few weeks. We do not have information about summer school teachers just yet. Classes will be virtual, and voluntary, with a primary focus of Literacy and Mathematics. This could be a wonderful opportunity to help learning continue over the summer, in preparation for the next school year. Information about registration will be coming soon.

There is also information available on this website about the International Languages Program during July 2020. Virtual classes will be offered. Please consider registering your child to continue learning their first language, or perhaps to study another.

We are preparing our teaching staff information for 2020-21, and will share changes with you soon. We continue to offer Kindergarten to grade 6, and have 2 system classes (Autism and Primary Special Needs), where children are placed by our school board. Tammy McCormack will continue to be the school's Principal, and we look forward to welcoming Tammy back on June 1st!

We all understand that learning at home can be challenging and we know you are doing your best. Our teachers, Educational Assistants, and Early Childhood Educators are working through the month of June to prepare interesting lessons online, and weekly Google meetings where your child can participate with their classmates. Please continue to encourage and support your children as best you can. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your teachers. We are here to help!

Eid Mubarak to all those who will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr this weekend! We understand celebrations  will be different this year, and hope you are able to reach out to family and friends safely.

Stay well, and stay safe!
